Beanpole Music was formed in 2001. Named after my wonderfully talented daughter, Sabrina [her nickname.] She was then, and is every day, the source of so much
inspiration for me that I thought that this name fit perfectly representing the stimulation of growth. Beanpole Music is fueled purely by the need to create original music, help local
artists finish their songs and get them recorded for a reasonable fee. I believe in a more basic approach by focusing on the song itself, the spirit of the moment, the original idea.
Music is an outlet that I have always cherished and after writing over 400 songs I thought it would be a good idea to forge ahead and see where this path would lead me.
The path led me to a great little club in Piermont, N.Y. called The Turning Point [appropriately named.] I was going to see one of my favorites singer/songwriters Jules
Shear ['All Through the Night' 'If She Knew What She Wants' 'Everything's Different Now' and many more !!] show. Curtis Stigers ['I Wonder Why', 'Never Saw A Miracle', 'Sleeping
With The Lights On'] was performing as the opening act. While there I met singer/songwriter Rick Norman. It seemed that we had a few things in common including an old friend Mike Marri
who is a producer/engineer at Boulevard Recording in New Milford, N.J. Rick and I exchanged phone numbers, email addresses. Now follow this…
I then got to speak with Curtis Stigers, gave him a CD and told him that I was a photographer and a songwriter. A few months later he called me to do some photography. He
told me that I had a "friend in the neighborhood" who played saxophone if I needed. I did. He played on two songs on my 'Even More' CD. We then wound up writing two songs
together 'The Place That I Call Home' and 'It Just Feels Right.' The latter is featured on my 'It's Not Like You're a Fish Out of Water' CD. We became friends and became an inspiring force in my music ever since that initial meeting. He is a great guy and an incredibly talented singer, songwriter, saxophonist.
In the interim, Mike Marri [Boulevard Recording] called me to ask if I'd be interested in working on some jingles. I wound up writing a spot for Wendy's 'Lets Make It a Late Night' and they called me to tell me it is going to be played all over the country. It was a real shot for me. [Boulevard also had me play guitar on a Kohl's commercial and also worked
on a spot for the restaurant T.G.I.F's. ] The commercial played for a while and shortly thereafter I got another call to write again for Wendy's. The song I wrote is 'Let's Go.' I was honored in having legendary singer Joe Lynn Turner sing this song. I was immediately impressed with the fact that he wanted me to be a part of the entire process. A friendship was formed.
Joe and I and wound up working together in the winter/spring of 2003 writing 6 songs together for one of his most successful solo albums to date [see: 'JLT' on Shrapnel
Records.] I had the pleasure of working with Engineer Gary Tole [Jon Bon Jovi, David Bowie, Joe Bonamassa, Vanessa Williams, Billy Joel, etc.] guitarist Al Pitrelli [Alice Cooper, Asia, Taylor
Dayne, Megadeth, Savatage] bass player Greg Smith [Alice Cooper, Rainbow, Blue Oyster Cult, Billy Joel and Twyla Tharp's Movin' Out] drummer John O'Reilly [Westworld, Rainbow, Blue
Oyster Cult] and guitar whiz Joe Bonamassa. The sessions were inspiring to say the least. The producer, Bob Held and Joe's manager, Mark Wexler couldn't have been more open to my
opinions and cares as a songwriter and I think the spirit of those sessions translated to the final product.
That experience led to a photo session with Joe Bonamassa ["A New Day Yesterday", "So It's Like That", "Blue Deluxe"] and his band, drummer Kenny Kramme and bassist
Eric Czar. Some of my photos are featured on Joe, Kenny and Eric's websites as well. Kenny's site featured 'The Chris Marksbury Collection.' JLT's producer Bob Held has since had me
photograph another great band he is working with, ZO2 as well as Fixer.
The phone rang again. It was Rick Norman. He said he was working on a CD at Boulevard Recording with Mike Marri ! He expressed interest in me playing guitar on a song or
two. Ironically, he told me that Jules Shear would be providing the background vocals ! It was very fulfilling working on this project and something that I appreciated being involved in
['Clouds Over Oz' 2003 Fictitious Records.] Rick then invited me to accompany him singing three songs from the album on the Into Thin Air show on public radio station WNTI from
Centenary College in Hackettstown, N.J. hosted by Duke. I was honored to get to work with all these talented and generous artists. It keeps the fire burning and creative juices flowing. I
have been flattered to produce tracks for singer/songwriter/guitarist Larry 'Shecky' Scacchetti, singer/songwriter/graphic designer Robert Oakes, singer/songwriter/guitarist Willy
Wilson, singer/songwriter/guitarist Peter 'Zest' Marks and drummer/songwriter Henry 'Happy' Riordan, my singer/songwriter daughter Sabrina Marksbury as well as 4 Cds of my own:
Suddenly, When I Can, Even More, It's Not Like You're a Fish Out of Water and A Little Guitar. I appreciate everyone that made this dream possible - my friends, family, my beautiful wife, Gina, for
her patience and understanding. It can't be easy. I continue to write new music, record and embrace the art. I can only wish to keep the dream alive and the creative doors open. Currently working the very talented Dan Black on a solo project of his. As my friend, Dan says: "Everything is connected...."
